Racing Belts, Pulleys & Components

Accessory drives do an important job transmitting engine power to the essentials like a water pump, alternator, power steering, and air conditioning compressor. They are driven by crankshaft rotation, which means they draw part of the power that would be sent to the wheels. There are ways to make the accessory drive system use up less horsepower while keeping it functioning properly. Underdrive pulley sets are a popular power-gaining mod that can help put as much as 15 hp to the ground. Installing a bigger-diameter accessory pulley and a smaller-diameter crankshaft pulley makes the accessory spin at a slower rate and thus cuts down its power demand.

However, this upgrade will have favorable results only if pulley ratios and diameters are perfectly calculated. Improperly mixed and matched pulleys can take a toll on the performance of the driven components and related systems. Because shedding as much weight as possible is important when it comes to race cars, racing pulleys are made from lightweight yet strong materials like billet aluminum. This also reduces rotational mass for improved throttle response. And because moving as much weight as possible towards the center makes a big difference in how a track car handles, there are systems that allow race car builders to relocate the front-mounted accessory drives to the rear of the motor. Last but not least, chrome-plated and billet-aluminum pulleys look great under the hood.

Racing engines continually work at high RPMs, so the load on the belt is rather high. If you are going to race your car, you need the belt that is much stronger than stock while being resistant to heat and wear. We have racing belts designed to stand up to the rigors of hard launches and high speeds. Belt alignment is a critical factor to consider when it comes to matching individual brackets, pulleys, tensioners, and belts together. Complete aftermarket accessory drive systems take the guesswork out of mixing parts together and ensure trouble-free installation and performance.
