Unveiled by Lamborghini at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Aventador is a two-seat supercar that came to replace the ten-year-old Lamborghini Murcielago. Just like with the previous Lamborghini's, the name of the new flagship is related to the world of Spanish Corrida. Aventador was a legendary trophy-winning bull that fought in a notably bloody and violent battle in 1993. Offered in a two-door coupe body shell, the Aventador features mid-engine, four-wheel drive layout. The supercar is 188'' long, 79.9'' wide, 44.7'' high, and the wheelbase is 106.3''. With the weight of 3,470 lb, the new flagship is 30% lighter than the predecessor, and all is due to a new carbon-fiber chassis and newly developed Lamborghini parts. Production of the Lamborghini Aventador is limited to 4,000 units (compare to 4099 Murcielago's).

Lamborghini Aventador is powered by a 6.5 L V12 engine. Even though the Sant'Agata engineers didn't direct inject the engine because of the upcoming European regulation for emissions, the engine still hits the targeted performance. It is capable of 690 hp at 8,250 rpm and 510 lb ft of torque at 5,500 rpm, and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, while reaching 124 mph 6 seconds later. The gas mileage is 11 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. A single-clutch 7-speed semi automatic transmission developed by Graziano Transmissioni is the only available option. The gearbox is said to be lighter and at the same time more responsive than a twin-clutch unit. The driver can choose from five driving modes: three manual (Strada, Spoirt, and Corsa) and two automatic (Sport-auto and Strada-auto) modes. The list of standard Lamborghini Aventador parts includes pushroad front and rear suspensions, 19'' front and 20'' rear alloy wheels, antilock carbon-ceramic brakes, knee airbags and side airbags, adaptive passenger airbag, seat belt with pre-tensioner and load limiter, collapsible steering column, electric parking brake, immobilizer, TPMS, and passive pedestrian protection system.

Stylistically, the Lamborghini Aventador is claimed to be an evolution of the Murcielago. It's exterior is similar to the limited-edition Lamborghini Reventon, featuring traditional scissor doors, sharp front-end massive rear end. As for the interior, Lamborghini equipped the new supercar with the Audi-sourced electronic interface. The cabin of the Aventador features seats with leather upholstery, multimedia system with 7" TFT display, iPod and USB interface, navigation system, and Bluetooth connectivity. And at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the company unveiled the Aventador J, a roofless and windowless concept car producing 700 hp.
