A long-running representative of the full-size pickup truck class, the Ford F-250 entered the market in 1953. Originally, it came with a 3.9 L Flathead V8 power plant producing 100 horsepower. Six other engines were available as well, they were I6 and V8. The choice of gearboxes included 3-speed and 4-speed manual and Ford-O-Matic automatic. The model was offered in 2-door pickup and 4-door panel truck versions. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive trucks were available. Besides, the F-250 replaced two models, the F-2 and F-3, and introduced a new naming scheme, which is still in use nowadays. The truck measured in with 189.1 inches in length. The original version of the Ford F-250 was in production until 1957, when it was replaced by the new generation.
