Borgeson Universal was founded in Torrington, Connecticut, in 1914. Back then, the company was constructing and manufacturing various types of universal joints for milling machines and lathes. Already during the 1920s Ford was utilizing Borgeson universal joints for some of the steering systems on their prototype vehicles. Borgeson's research & development and production activities expand to industrial, aerospace, and military markets.
Borgeson Universal was constantly improving and developing their original needle bearing u-joints into some of the most reliable, smoothest operating, strongest universal joints offered in the industry. The company has ventured into manual steering gears production by acquiring Mullins Steering Gears in 2001. Borgeson also owns all of the original equipment, tooling, and patent rights for Saginaw manual steering gear boxes.
The company's 50,000 square foot facility in Torrington, Connecticut was constructed to increase manufacturing efficiency, so that Borgeson Universal would be able to serve their customers better. Now, the brand offers a wide range of strong and safe products, including steering boxes, shafts, accessories, etc. All components and systems from Borgeson steering shaft kits to Borgeson U-joints are manufactured at their own facilities from a wide variety of alloys, stainless steel, solid billet steels, or aluminum, utilizing state-of-the-art CNC machining equipment.
The company’s further ongoing research and development ensures that their components and systems always meet or exceed current automotive production requirements. Borgeson Universal also manufactures custom-made U-joints, steering shaft assembly units, manual steering gears, etc., for many industrial original equipment manufacturers. The company uses the latest manufacturing technology and the finest materials to ensure each product you buy is second to none in quality and reliability.
