When it premiered for the 1995 model year, the Audi S6 was introduced (and rightfully so) as a higher-performing version of the A6. At launch, the S6 was equipped with a 2.2L inline five-cylinder engine, which got credit for producing up to 227 horsepower directed through a five-speed manual transmission. The model was made available as both a sedan and wagon and along with the A6 and S4 was constructed on the Volkswagen's C4 platform. The first generation of the Audi S6 lasted only a few years before eventually being put on a hiatus until the second edition, which rolled off the line in 2002. As for the model dimensions, the first-generation Audi S6 measured in with a wheelbase of 106 inches, a width of 71 inches, a height of 56.5 inches (wagon- 59 inches), and an overall length of 192.6 inches.
The second-generation Audi S6 made its way into the American showrooms in 2002. Outfitted with a 4.2L V8 engine good for 340 horsepower, the second edition of the S6 was designed for more power than the original. This time around, the engine featured revised parts and was mated to a standard five-speed Titptronic automatic transmission. Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) was introduced as well. DRC showcased diagonally-linked shock absorbers, which adjusted to provide firmer control during tight turns, acceleration, and braking. Produced until 2003, the second run of the S6 displayed a wheelbase of 108.6 inches, a width of 76.1 inches, a height of 57 inches, and an overall length of 190.3 inches.
Third generation version of the Audi S6 reached the US dealer lots in 2007, and it featured completely revised underhood Audi S6 parts. Gone was the previous 4.2L V8 and in its place was a new Lamborghini-sourced 5.2L V10 engine which cranked out up to 425 horsepower and 398 pounds-per-foot of torque directed through a six-speed automatic transmission. And as with all modern Audi models, Quattro All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is standard. Inside the S6 are leather upholstery, aluminum wood accents, front sport-seats, and the updated MMI electronics system, which simplifies accessing the vehicle's tech-savvy features easier for the driver. The third generation of the Audi S6 measures in with a wheelbase of 111.9 inches, a width of 73.4 inches, a height of 57 inches (wagon- 57.2 inches), and an overall length of 193.5 inches (with wagon measuring 194.2 inches).
Just like its A6 sibling, the S6 gives drivers a feeling of upscale luxury and comfort. The main difference is in the vehicle's reputation for big-time performance. The Audi S6 zips past the competition with elegant power and refinement, regardless of the model year. A silky-smooth body shape along with the cushy cabin make this a kind of a vehicle that has the potential to stand out in a crowd. The only thing missing from the profile is your influence.
