However, it can be had with a CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox, with the latter available on only 120 of all limited-production sports sedans. The sport package also gives the Corolla an aggressive look to match its performance aspirations.

The regular 2021 Corolla lineup sees some minor improvements. Android Auto capability joins the already present Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa systems as standard. There are also two extra air bags in the rear seat, increasing the total amount to 10. As before, the base engine for the sedan is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder that develops 139 hp. Hatchbacks come standard with the abovementioned 2.0-liter 169-hp I4; a sedan-exclusive hybrid powertrain consists of the 1.8-liter four and a 53-kW electric motor and makes a total of 121 horsepower.
