Simply put, the Toyota Corolla is a legend. Noted as the highest-selling vehicle in the history of the automotive industry, the Corolla first premiered at the tail-end of the 1960s, with the second generation following in 1970. Throughout the '70s, the car grew in popularity thanks to its ultra-friendly price-tag and reliable Corolla parts. It was also appreciated for its fuel mileage, which during the decade was at a premium due to the oil crisis. In its formative years, the model was a rear-wheel drive vehicle and offered up as a sedan, hatchback, and station wagon. Once the 1980s settled in, the Toyota Corolla was no longer sold as solely a rear-wheel drive vehicle. The car started to be offered as front-wheel drive for hatchback models, four-wheel drive for the five-door wagon, and rear-wheel drive for the two-door coupe and three-door hatchback. However, rear-wheel drive was dropped from the lineup altogether by the mid-eighties and when the Corolla was released for its sixth generation, the model was available only as front-wheel drive (with the exception of the four-door All-Trac sedan and five-door wagon, where four-wheel drive was implemented). When the seventh generation hit U.S. shores in 1993, the Corolla was powered by an inline four-cylinder sixteen-valve engine and presented in three main trims: the DX, LE, and wagon. Dual-front airbags became standard after the first year, and the wagon version was discontinued come 1996.

1998 welcomed the eighth generation of the Corolla. It was equipped with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that showed off excellent fuel economy. Side airbags also became an option for the first time. The model was only offered up as a sedan, leaving the coupe, hatchback, and wagon behind. The ninth generation of the Corolla premiered for 2003 in the U.S. Four trim levels, the CE, S, LE, and XRS were available, with the CE as the base economy sedan. It came with a 1.8L four-cylinder good for 126 horsepower. The S and LE trims also shared this engine, while the XRS (which was produced for '04 and '05) showed off a little extra kick, with its 1.8L configuration producing up to 164 horsepower. The XRS also used a standard manual transmission, while the other trims were directed through an automatic. As for amenities, the CE displayed air conditioning, a CD stereo system, and an adjustable driver's seat. The S featured more styling exterior parts including a rear spoiler, distinctive “smoke” headlights, and a body kit. LE models were the luxury edition, with wood trim and an upgraded interior. The XRS took the sporty nature of the S even further, as it was outfitted with four-wheel disc brakes, alloy wheels, and a firmer suspension.

The tenth generation of the Toyota Corolla was introduced for the 2009 model year in five trim levels: base, LE, S, XLE, and XRS. Similarly to the previous generation, the first three trim levels share the same powertrain, which consists of a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 132 horsepower. The XRS differs, as it is equipped with a 2.4L inline four-cylinder that showcases 158 horsepower. With the LE, drivers get power accessories and air conditioning. The Corolla S presents a sportier profile thanks to its exterior styling cues and the XLE takes over as the luxury trim. The XRS keeps its role as the high-end sports model with its heftier engine configuration and a firm, sport suspension. As for the model's overall heritage, the Corolla has remained one of the most important cars on the road. Although the car's competition has stiffened in recent years, the Toyota Corolla is still recognized around the industry for all of the attributes that made it such a star in the first place. It has received loads of awards and honors, especially for its most recent generations. The Toyota Corolla has been a Consumer Guide Best Buy (1998, 1999, 2000, 2009), a Consumer Guide Recommended Buy (2003, 2005, 2006), and named a “Best Bet” by the Car Book as well as being a main contender for Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year award (2009).

One of the most important vehicles in history, the Toyota Corolla knows limited boundaries. This expressive sedan has seen its own evolution throughout its lifetime and has kept getting better and better. While the Corolla is known for its fuel economy and family-friendly price range, there is still plenty of room for a more personalized effect on the inside and outside Toyota Corolla accessories & parts. Competitive performance and efficiency at the pump are what made the Corolla a household name. But it's the accessories and upgrades in the right places that show off your sense of style which make it a legend.
