After having received an extensive range of enhancements for 2017, one of the best-selling cars in the world and the best-selling Toyota’s offering enters the 2018 model year with only a few minor updates. The last year’s improvements to the Toyota Corolla included refreshed styling, upgraded interior upholstery, standard rear-view camera, and a bunch of active safety features named Toyota Safety Sense-P. The 2018 Corolla comes with illuminated visor vanity mirrors for the driver and front passenger as standard. XLE and SE trim levels received an upgraded 3-spoke steering wheel that now features leather trim and controls for Bluetooth operation, driver info display, voice command, and audio. The 50th Anniversary Edition was dropped. Otherwise, the Toyota Corolla remained essentially unchanged.
For 2018, the Corolla continues to offer a stylish and spacious interior, decent performance, safety features that you won’t find even in some luxury cars, and user-friendly infotainment system. The model employs the only engine option with its horsepower rating varying depending on the grade. The standard version used by most trims generates 132 hp, while the engine of the LE Eco trim is capable of delivering 140 hp. The engine works together with a CVT on all variants of the 2018 Toyota Corolla, while the SE trim can be also fitted with a 6-speed manual. The base transmission is programmed to respond similarly to a conventional geared automatic utilizing discrete stepped shift points for both acceleration and deceleration. All trims deliver excellent fuel efficiency with the LE Eco grade returning the highest number of 40 mpg highway.
The 2018 Toyota Corolla provides a high level of comfort thanks to a spacious interior including 41.4” of legroom for the rear passengers as well as excellent noise reduction. The latter is achieved thanks to floor carpet insulation, inner dash silencer pad, acoustic glass windshield, fender insulators, and instrument panel seal between the windshield and the cowl. The model’s unibody extensively uses high tensile strength steel contributing to a comfortable ride and predictable handling. The Corolla also employs a rigid steering construction to improve the direct feel that comes from the steering system.
