Snow Tire Chains

When the roads are covered with ice and hard-packed snow and you absolutely have to get to your destination, there’s no substitute for tire chains. Metal link and cable chains will dig into the slipperiest surface and provide grip that even off-road rubber with the most aggressive tread patterns can’t deliver. And you can get this traction no matter what you drive because we offer tire chains for everything from compact cars to tractor trailers. And many of our chains exceed SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Class S space requirements for the fitment of winter traction products.

When you think tire chains, if you have visions of loose chains flopping against your expensive alloy wheels, and lying on your back in freezing weather to install them, think again. We offer chains that are so easy to install that access to the back of the wheel and tire isn’t even necessary, as well as chains that only require 3 steps to install. And many chains include self-tensioning systems so there’s no need to have to stop and re-tension when you’re underway. We also have chains that don’t come in contact with the wheel or have nylon bumpers so you don’t have to worry about wheel damage.

Along with the aforementioned easy installation features, all chains come with detailed, easy to follow, installation instructions. Several chains feature color coded assembly points, and some even come with gloves and a handy mat you can kneel on during chain installation and removal, so you can stay as neat as possible. And when the weather clears and your chains are no longer needed, they’re easy to store for next time because many come with a convenient storage case. And regardless of the tire size, from the small rubber used on compact sedans, to the big all-terrain tires on 4x4 pickups and SUVs, to the even larger heavy-duty truck tires on motorhomes and the biggest commercial trucks, we have the snow chains for proper fitment.

But proper fitment means more than just fitting the tire, tire chains must also fit within the space around the tire. This space can be limited, especially on many newer cars. That’s why many of the tire chains we carry are low profile chains designed to exceed SAE Class S clearance restrictions, which establishes minimum clearances (0.59”, 15mm from the tire sidewall and 1.46”, 37mm from the treadface) between the tires and surrounding components like fenders, suspension parts, fuel and brake lines, etc. Our tire chains are also compatible with anti-lock braking and traction control systems. And you can count on many miles and seasons of use from our snow chains because they’re manufactured from durable through-hardened manganese and nickel alloy steel.
