Racing Seats

Racing Seats

The factory seats in the average car are made to keep you comfy while droning down the interstate, nothing more. Even though many sports models have some degree of lateral support, you’ll still find yourself sliding all over if you push it in the turns. The steering wheel is for steering, it’s not a handle to hold onto when things get hairy. When the g-forces get turned up you need a proper racing seat to keep you comfortably in position and in control.

When you’re driving at speed, on the street but especially at the race track, you need to remain stationary behind the wheel, so that all the controls are readily at hand and your instruments are in clear view. And this isn’t possible if you’re sliding around in your seat through every turn. Racing seats are designed with ample side bolsters at your hips, kidney area, and shoulders to keep you in place and in control, regardless of the speed or direction.

Besides the lateral support provided by the side bolsters, racing seats are also shaped to keep you in a comfortable, upright driving position. Perhaps most importantly, most racing seats are designed to enable the mounting of racing harnesses. In addition to the lap belts, 5, 6, and 8-point racing harnesses restrain the torso with belts over each shoulder, plus one or two belts between the legs to prevent the driver from “submarining”, slipping forward under the lap belt in the event of a crash. The most sophisticated racing seats can also accommodate head and neck restraint systems like the HANS device.

Whether you just want to upgrade your street car for performance driving or you need a seat for a dedicated race car that meets sanctioning body regulations, we can accommodate your needs. We offer seats for all types of racing, from street stock to drag racing, NASCAR to dirt track, asphalt ovals to quarter midgets. In addition to the proper configuration for safety and support, our seats are lightweight so your engine won’t have to push around excess pounds, yet strong and rigid enough to handle the shock and pounding typical of racing conditions.

While specs will vary according to brand and seat model, in general racing seats are covered in non-slip, fire retardant fabric that is breathable and shock absorbing for comfort. And while function is of primary importance when it comes to racing, we know that style is a close second. Browse our huge selection of racing seats and we’re confident that you’ll find a style with features and colors that are just right for your racer. Most racing seats are universal, but we offer vehicle specific seat brackets for most applications to ensure your seats are positioned properly and have a solid foundation.

Braum® BRR2-BKBS - Advan Series Seats, Black Fabric with Black Stitches
I decided to buy the red seats for my civic, and honestly, I'm very happy with them. There's no flex when I floor it, or moving back and forth. They hold you into position very well. The colour on the red ones looks amazing in person, but I do wish the material was softer. It is a little uncomfortable getting in and out of the seats due to the bolstering. The sliders... man, they're kinda bad. I had to hammer the tabs on the sliders, just so the bar that you push down would fit. It was really hard moving the sliders, when I was originally attaching them to the seat as well, and very time consuming. A small problem, is that the harness bar can no longer be supported by the bottom. The seat reclining mechanism hits it, so it had to be disconnected. Seats 4.5/5, Sliders 3/5.
