Racing Mass Air Flow Sensors

Racing Mass Air Flow Sensors

Your engine uses a large number of sensors that basically serve one common purpose: to feed it with the optimal air-fuel ratio so you can enjoy peak performance. The job of a MAF (mass air flow) sensor is to determine the amount of air that enters the engine. There are several types of MAF sensors but the hot wire MAF sensor is the most common type. It uses an electrically heated wire with a constant voltage applied to it. The wire is positioned in the engine’s air stream, and when the air passes through it, it cools down, causing an electrical resistance drop. The more the air flow, the lower the electrical resistance, and as a result, the more electrical current is needed to keep the wire temperature constant.

The electronics inside the sensor measures the electrical current, translates it into voltage output (analog MAF sensors) or frequency output (digital MAF sensors), and sends these data to your vehicle’s electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU in its turn uses this information and the information from a few other sensors to tell your fuel injectors the amount of fuel that should be added to the cylinders to balance the air-fuel mixture. But it’s important to note that if you’ve modified or upgraded some engine components to increase airflow, your stock MAF won’t be able to provide precise airflow signal, which will cause RPM horsepower loss and reduction in fuel economy. You’ll need a performance MAF sensor that is calibrated to handle major airflow increase.

If you’re in need of a high-performance MAF sensor that will help keep the engine of your race car running at its peak, you’ve come to the right place. In our online store, you’ll discover a comprehensive selection of superior-grade racing MAF sensors from the most recognized manufacturers in the industry. Made using the finest materials and cutting-edge technology, the MAF sensors offer exceptional performance and reliability. Capable of gauging the higher air volume, they will allow your ECU to accurately determine the sensor readings. As a result, the ECU will be able to direct a balanced air-fuel mixture to the cylinders. The mixture will create greater combustion, ensuring improved acceleration, fuel economy, and increased horsepower.
