The Pontiac Torrent was a midsize crossover. The first Pontiac Torrent left the assembly plant in 2006. The car was built on the GM Theta platform. It was offered with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The Terrent was fitted with a 5 or 6-speed automatic transmission. The first Torrents were fitted with a 3.4L V6 engine producing 185 hp and 210 lb. ft. of torque. However, in 2008 the Pontiac Torrent was offered with a new 3.6L V6 engine delivering 264 hp with 250 lb. ft. of torque. The Pontiac Torrent also had electronic power steering. The production of the Pontiac Torrent was stopped in 2009.
