Lubricants

When it comes to proper operation of moving machine parts, using quality lubricants is a must. Almost every automotive system requires the right lubricants to reduce friction of moving parts and facilitate their uninterrupted performance. Motor oils, transmission and brake fluids, etc. keep your vehicle running at its peak, while a range of tool oils, multi-purpose lubricants, and lubricating sprays will come in handy for repair, construction, and DIY projects.

All types of lubricants for mechanized equipment are designed to create a layer of protective coating between moving parts of machinery in order to protect these parts from wearing out, contamination, and oxidation. Automotive lubricants are usually divided into petroleum-based and synthetic. Conventional petroleum-based oils and greases use mineral oils as the main lubricating agents, while synthetic lubricants utilize artificially synthesized substances such as silicone as their primary agent. Consequently synthetic lubricants are far more effective in withstanding extreme high and low temperatures.

Featuring advanced formulation, synthetic lubricants are gaining popularity. The most commonly used synthetic lubricants are motor oils that optimize engine performance, improve wear protection, and prevent rust and corrosion. Other synthetic oils and greases available on the market are multi-purpose lubricants suited for a variety of high-load applications; penetrating lubricants designed to loosen and clean rusted parts; chain lubricants that guard and extend the lifespan of chains, open gears, and other exposed metal surfaces; silicone spray lubricants that reduce friction, prevent binding, and waterproof all types of equipment; etc.

Among other commonly used synthetic and petroleum-based lubricants are hydraulic oils. Unlike motor oils, they feature a much lighter and more free-flowing formula. Used for hydraulic machinery lubrication, hydraulic oils flow freely through the pumps that compress the oil to operate the machinery and contain effective film-forming additives that lubricate the moving parts of pumping equipment. Hydraulic lubricants also feature extreme pressure additives that ensure maximum machinery protection. There are general-purpose and niche-specific hydraulic oils used for aerial lift equipment, hydraulic jacks, turf and lawn movers, etc.
