Not being able to get into your car because you’ve locked the keys inside can be very frustrating, but it’s best not to let your emotions get the best of you. Aggravation and impatience can lead to trying to gain entry using methods that are not only fruitless, but can damage your vehicle. Gone are the days when a coat hanger could be used to open just about any car door. Today’s vehicles are built to be much more secure to prevent theft, and there are many more design variations. To get inside them you need a veritable arsenal of lockout tools, like the ones you’ll find on our digital shelves.

We have the advanced tools you need to unlock the doors on any car or truck, without causing vehicle damage. In addition to traditional long reach loop tools for vertical lock buttons, and slim jims to engage lock pawls or linkage inside the door, we have the wedges and long reach tools needed to gain cabin access and manipulate lock buttons or door pull handles that are centrally located on the inside of the door. These tools are available individually and in complete kits with case that are ideal for emergency responders, locksmiths, and road service personnel. We also offer lock pick sets for door, trunk, and some ignition locks in master sets and in sets for domestic, European and Asian vehicles. We even have socket sets that can remove damaged lug nuts and wheel locks without a key.

When most cars had frameless windows and vertical lock buttons, it was easy to fish a coat hanger past the window, loop it around the button, and pull up to unlock the door. Today most cars and trucks have full frame doors and getting inside the cabin is more difficult. Lock mechanisms have also evolved to the point where not only coat hangers are obsolete, but in many cases traditional “slim jims” are also ineffective. Using the wrong tool to defeat a lock can result in ruined weatherstripping and scratched paint, and randomly poking around inside the door can even damage wiring and electronics.

Our wedges for full frame doors can create an opening for long reach tools without marring paint or weatherstripping, and our wedges for frameless windows can do the same without risking breaking the glass. Or use one of our one-hand jack tools to create a small gap that you can easily keep open, leaving your hands free for lock manipulation, with a sturdy air jack. These durable nylon bladders come in a range of sizes and slip easily between the door frame and body where they can be inflated by hand, giving you the room you need to work. Our long reach tools come in a variety of lengths and shapes, with a selection of tips, including magnetic and LED lighted tips. Most have a protective coating to prevent vehicle damage during use and some can be disassembled for easy storage and transport.
