Originally named the Isuzu MU, the Amigo was renamed specifically for the North American market that the vehicle entered in 1989. The nameplate was applied to only short-wheelbase 3-door version of the model, while the five-door variant that was launched the next year received the Rodeo name. The Amigo was offered in two trim levels, namely the S and XS, which featured a 2,3L 4ZD1 I4 engine and rear-wheel drive and a 2,6L 4ZE1 I4 with 4-wheel drive respectively. Though equipped with a rather limited number of interior conveniences, the Amigo was considered a comfortable vehicle and has stricken fancy of many motorists all over the USA. It was discontinued in 1994.
