The H1 is the first model marketed by Hummer for the civilian market. This truck is based on the Humvee, which was developed by AM General for military application. The Hummer H1 was unveiled in 1992 and remained in production up to 2002. Originally marketed simply as ‘the Hummer’ model, it gained the H1 nameplate when General Motors started developing a larger truck, built on the GMC 2500 HD platform. A newer model was given the H2 name, while the original one was marketed as the H1. The H1 was available in either two- or four-door configuration and was powered with a 6.2 L, 6.5 L or 6.6 L diesel engine.
