Gooseneck Hitches

Like a 5th wheel hitch, a gooseneck hitch installs in the truck bed, and offers the same benefits of higher towing capacity (up to 30,000 lbs.), tighter turning radius, and superior over-the-road handling, compared to a conventional receiver hitch. However, you have more installation options with a gooseneck hitch, including ones that hide the trailer ball and allow complete use of the truck bed when not towing a trailer. Even a fixed ball gooseneck doesn’t take up as much bed room as a 5th wheel hitch.

Gooseneck hitch setups use a 2 5/16” trailer ball mounted in the truck bed that connects to the trailer’s coupler, similar to a receiver hitch setup, instead of a 5th wheel’s bed mounted pin coupler that locks onto a trailer mounted kingpin. We offer designs for mounting under or over the truck bed, and both types are available with folding balls. Except for some over-bed mounted hitches, all of our gooseneck hitches are designed vehicle specific to ensure perfect fit and easy installation.

Over-bed mounted gooseneck hitches mount on rails like a 5th wheel hitch. Some balls can be removed while others are welded in place to prevent theft, but even welded ball hitches can be quickly removed when unobstructed bed access is needed. Under-bed hitches mount to the frame under the truck bed so that once installed, the only thing visible in the bed are the ball and safety chain loops. When not towing, just pull the ball lock lever, accessed from the wheel-well, pop out the ball and turn it upside down, reinstall in the mounting hole and lock it in place. A supplied cover keeps dirt and grime out of the ball cylinder. With the ball in this position you have unobstructed use of the truck bed for cargo.

When you need to regularly switch your truck bed from tow mode to cargo mode and back, our folding ball gooseneck hitches are the ultimate in versatility. You’ll never have to worry about a lost or stolen trailer ball with these hitches because the ball is permanently attached. When in the up position the ball can handle up to a 30,000 lb. trailer, and when full use of the truck bed is needed, the ball folds down into a small compartment. On over-bed folding gooseneck hitches the hitch mounting plate will be visible in the bed. With under-bed folding hitches a rectangular opening cut in the bed will allow the ball to pivot between the upright and stored position.
