Buying a car that isn’t for any practical purpose is a pretty weird thing to most people. To car people, though, it’s an amazing feeling and offers a different kind of relationship to your machine than most people ever experience. This was certainly true of Liz and her 1972 MGB roadster, Sunny.
Liz found Sunny on Bring a Trailer a few months after being laid off from her job as an EMT and giving up another MG to a man who made a great case for why he had to have it. After bringing Sunny home, Liz has spent time repairing the car – as any owner of a British classic must – and just driving it for the sake of driving it.
The car has given Liz a lot of joy and she feels that it’s brought joy to others in her small town. Having owned and driven a classic car at several points in my life, I can say that her experience isn’t unique. Something about an old car just brings people out of their shells. I guess nostalgia is just one hell of a drug.
Liz’s story is just one in a series of short videos from Bring a Trailer and Pennzoil documenting people’s success stories on the site. If you’re looking for some project car inspiration or just some feelgood content for a Friday afternoon, check them out here.
