A CURT custom wiring connector (sometimes called a T-connector) is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that eliminates the need for cutting, splicing and soldering when installing vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Most vehicles do not come ready to tow. Unless your vehicle has a towing package, it is probably not equipped with a trailer wiring connector. A custom wiring connector uses a single original equipment plug to plug into a special socket provided by your vehicle. Though this option is not available on every vehicle, some automotive manufacturers design their vehicles to be easily equipped for towing by supplying a socket, integrated into the vehicle's electrical system, to readily accept a custom wiring connector. With a CURT custom wiring connector, there is no need to tap into the taillight assembly because a special socket is already provided.
Even if you've already hitched your trailer up, you're not actually ready to hit the road. What you also need to do is ensure the trailer has enough power to run turn signals and brake lights. That's why you need this T-connector. CURT applies SMT (surface mount technology) to any T-connector with a built-in converter, which allows for lower resistance, less heat generation and longer life cycle. The majority of CURT T-connectors require neither splicing nor cutting or taping, however if the length is not appropriate, you can cut the connector to appropriate length and splice it to the tail light wiring. CURT® - 4-Way Flat and 6-Way Round Custom Wiring Connector
This is replacing one that I installed about 5 years ago and quit working. I wish it would have lasted longer but the fact that it is plug and play made the replacement not so difficult.
This item appears to be wired backwards. At the end that plugs into the vehicle with the clip side up the wiring, from left to right, should be white, brown, green and yellow. It is actually green, yellow, brown and white.

Left flasher acts like if rear bulb was burnt, but it sometimes works.

Between the instructions provided and information on YouTube, the installation of the T-Connector is easy. For testing, installers should buy a flat-4 cable (LED) tester; they only cost a few dollars. The only criticism that I have is the self-tapping screw provided to secure the earth cable. It didn't at all look fit for purpose.
