The Chevrolet Townsman was a full-size station wagon produced in two different generations. From 1953 to 1957, the Townsman was a wagon version of the 210 Series and the Bel Air. Then, the badge was dropped and revived in 1969, again being a station wagon version of the Bel Air model. Offering a good combination of comfort, power, and style, the Townsman was slotted in the middle of Chevrolet’s wagon offer, just below the Kingswood and Estate models. Available in either six- or nine-passenger configurations, the Chevrolet Townsman came with a wide array of V8 engines, which provided adequate performance. In 1973, the nameplate Townsman was dropped and the station wagon was named after the Bel Air series.
