Unveiled in 1959, the Chevrolet Kingswood was an amazing and innovative full-size 4-door station wagon. The Kingswood featured a low profile combined with a large and long body which made the model a unique vehicle. The most striking visual detail was the rear end, with the spectacular wing shaped tailfins and the cat-eye rear lights. The Kingswood featured three rows of seats, providing room for nine passengers; the third row faced the rear of the vehicle. In 1960, the model was dropped, but the badge revived in 1969, when the new Chevrolet Kingswood was launched. The new model, based on the Impala, featured a V8 engine and proved very popular during its production run. The model was discontinued in 1972.
