The Cadillac Allante was a two-door luxury cabriolet offered on the North American market through 1986–1993 model years. Possessing the V-Body platform, the Allante was highly mechanically related to the contemporary Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado. However, the car was totally unique externally as it had the body designed and produced by Pininfarina, a globally renowned coachbuilder from Italia. The completed bodies were shipped to Cadillac’s factory in Detroit by means of specifically arranged Boeing 747s, where they obtained all necessary mechanicals and interior. After ceasing in 1993, the Allante had no successor in the company’s line up till 2003, when Cadillac launched the XLR.
