Base Roof Rack Systems

CARiD offers a range of base roof rack products to let you set up a roof rack easily on any car, van, SUV, or truck – even if was built with a completely bare roof. Basically, they are the components that let you set up a roof rack from scratch, or add to existing factory rain gutters, tracks or even raised roof rails. Four "towers" or "feet" attach to allow addition of two "cross bars" that run across the vehicle from driver to passenger side.

For cars with bare roofs that aren't equipped with any form of rain gutter edging at all, the Thule® Traverse Footpack offers cushioned foot pads with simple installation that provide a tight, secure fit. Crossbars then lock into the footpads to give you rack carrying ability. Rhino Rack® also offers their Fixed Mounts that fit almost any vehicle roof, that are designed for small two-doors where traditional racks cannot be positioned far enough apart.

For vehicles equipped with rain gutters along the roof edges, we offer foot clamps shaped and designed just for them. On and off installation is easy, with an easy-grip round knob that adjusts and fine-tunes the level of clamp tightness. For sport utilities with bump-up roof sections or a vertical rise towards the center, Thule® Gutter High Foot Pack and Super High Foot Pack kits let you mount your cross rails higher up with 5-, 8-, and 11-inch height sizings. If your vehicle is equipped with OEM raised side rails or flush rails from the factory, you're halfway there already. Cross rail adapters are available to fit the shape, size, and height of any factory side rails.

Should you need a roof rack with heavy-duty carrying capacity, we offer kits that come with not two, but THREE CROSSBAR setups. Gutter mounts or foot pad mounts will fit a wide array of vehicles with or without rain gutters - If it's necessary for tracks to be installed on your specific vehicle to support the foot pads, they are included also. Heavy-duty cross bars are typically made from aluminum for maximum strength-to-weight, and footings are crafted from strong glass-reinforced nylon. And if you already have a factory roof rack and find its performance disappointing, we offer replacement rack applications also. Many newer cars and trucks already come with pre-drilled installation points to allow dealer installation if customers select it after the vehicle is manufactured. However, since many dealers overprice these items, your best bet will be found right here in this section.

Once you've got your cross rails installed, your base rack is in place and a whole world of new load carrying possibilities opens up for you. CARiD offers roof racks that attach to your crossrails specifically designed to hold skis, snowboards, surfboards, boogie boards, bicycles, luggage, cargo trays, and hard shell cargo boxes. Each type of rack comes with the ability to lock your load for theft protection, and all mounting clamps, braces, bars and cover pieces are made from either aluminum, ABS material, powder coated steel or glass-reinforced nylon for strength and resistance to corrosion. Roof rack fairing pieces are also available that attach either in front of your finished rack or on the sides of it to reduce wind resistance and buffeting that causes noise and reduces fuel economy.
