BedStep2™ Dually Mounting Bracket Kit (75610-01A) by AMP Research®. Finish: Black Powder Coated. For those with dually rear pickup trucks with rear wheel fenders that protrude too far into the normal step pad proximity area for comfort, the brackets in this kit relocate the side steps closer to the front of the vehicle.

Features

  • Set of two brackets that serve to reposition BedStep Side Steps closer to the front of your vehicle, away from dually rear wheel fenders which may be in the way
  • Load rated to match the 300 pound weight capacity of each Side Step
  • Traditional steel construction with durable black powder coat finish
  • All hardware and instructions included
  • Some drilling normally required with Side Step installation
  • Manufactured in the United States
  • 3-Year 36,000 Miles

For those with dually rear pickup trucks, you may find the areas of the frame that allow the easiest side step pad mounting will cause the step assembly to be put in such an area that it becomes hard not to bump into the outer wheel fender. Should this be the case, AMP Research offers the dually Mounting Bracket kit to relocate the side steps closer to the front of the vehicle and further away from the rear wheel fenders. Each bracket piece is rated to easily match the 300 pound step capacity without causing undue flexing or shifting of the step assembly – even when both feet are standing on the step pad. AMP Research builds all components in the United States and backs them with a 3-year / 36,000 mile warranty against failure due to manufacturing defects.

Founded in 1980 in Southern California, AMP Research® came together with a wealth of engineering talent drawn from company founder Horst Leitner and others who were previously involved in motorcycle racing and engineering. During the 1980s and 1990s, AMP Research pioneered the first 4-stroke engines for off-road motocross bikes as well as other suspension and chain torque advancements for bicycles and motorcycles. Hauling dirt bikes to racing events in the back of their pickup trucks, company engineers rigged up temporary bed extenders to keep chairs and other items from sliding out on the road when tailgates were down. They worked so well, that AMP Research patented the idea and introduced it for 1998 - quickly becoming a supplier to vehicle manufacturers that offered bed extenders as factory equipment. During the following decade, AMP Research pioneered power retracting running boards and has become a featured supplier to major automakers who use them as well. AMP Research is ISO 9001:2008 certified for best business practices in manufacturing and customer satisfaction, and their range of high-quality products is widely respected throughout the industry. Our website is proud to offer the best values on the full AMP Research lineup of power retracting running boards, step pads, bed extenders, and all individual replacement parts at prices that can't be beat.

I installed both the BedStep and BedStep2 on my 2022 F350. The install was super easy and the steps are great. The instructions for the BedStep2 call for drilling a hole in the frame. But I found the hole was there from the factory and the install was even easier than I expected.

I'm bruised and bleeding but I got it done in 3.5 hours. First off I wasted an hour trying to get the main bracket to fit on the driver's side. IT WILL NOT without modification. So, I tried it on the passenger side and if fit so I decided to install it on that side instead (not ideal). Everything eventually fit. Instructions are poor, hardware was missing but a puzzle solver can figure it out. One of the bolts holding the main bracket was impossible to get any kind of a wrench on and was not doable with fingers so 1/6 of a revolution at a time using an open end and 1/2 hour later it was finally in. When I saw that installation only required drilling one hole and that was for a rivet insert i thought "high class". The rivnut installation was brutal. First of all it is a huge hole in a cramped location. The location of the required hole hit a weld on the back side and was hell getting thru. This also created an uneven surface for the rivnut to clamp up against but it worked half assed I guess. Overall, It is a clever but rube goldberg assy but, as a mechanical engineer I agreed with every part of the design except for the one brace that attaches to the bed. Everything else is attached to the frame except for that one brace. The step works well, deploys and stows easily and looks like it is tucked up enough to avoid being damaged. I'm leery of the plastic step held on with screws in plastic threads so we'll see. I consider myself an experienced auto/aircraft mechanic (45 yrs) with decent skills.
