3rd Brake Light Covers

Studies showed that adding a 3rd brake light, also known as the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL), to vehicles reduced rear end collisions by 50%, so the government began mandating such lights on new vehicles some 3 decades ago. The first lights were ungainly and often protruded from the roof or deck lid. Subsequently they were integrated more successfully into vehicle design, but most are still rather plain and boring right from the factory. Adding one of our custom covers, bezels or trim panels to your light is an easy and inexpensive way to add custom style to your car or truck, and the crowning touch if you’ve already added custom trim to your tail lights. They’re available in a wide range of finishes including chrome, polished or brushed stainless steel or billet aluminum, and powder coated, and come in custom styles featuring flames, lightning bolts, tribal art, artistic designs, auto maker’s or custom logos, and more.

Our 3rd brake light covers, bezels and trim surrounds are made from durable materials like stainless steel, billet aluminum, and ABS plastic, a type of thermoplastic that is impact, heat, and chemical resistant. Their dazzling shine comes from triple chrome plating or intensive polishing that results in a mirror like finish, and some can be had ready for paint. Installation is easy; these covers and bezels either replace an existing bezel or mount at the same location as the lens using the same fasteners, or they’re attached with 3M acrylic foam tape. The latter is an adhesive so strong it’s used by the vehicle manufacturers to install trim at the factory.

Along with our individual covers, we also offer covers that are included in complete chrome accessory kits. If your car or truck is chrome and style-challenged all over and not just at the 3rd brake light, one of these kits is the way to go. While exact contents will vary according to application, in addition to the 3rd brake light cover these kits generally include door handle covers, mirror covers, and fuel tank door covers, and may include chrome covers for other components. The covers in each kit are created to perfectly complement one another and the specific vehicle they’re designed for, and like many of our individual covers, they’re attached with 3M adhesive.
