Floating calipers by Wilwood aren't solidly mounted so they can slide left and right via pins and bushings on the bracket. When the brakes are applied, the piston pushes the entire caliper, creating friction from the brake pads on both sides of the rotor. The floating calipers are suitable for most vehicles since they are lighter, cheaper, and more compact than a fixed caliper. This lightweight caliper kit offers great stopping power and can be mount on stock-sized rotors in the stock location. D52 dual piston aluminum calipers that come in the kit feature stainless steel pistons and reinforced bridges which make them the strongest replacement calipers available. Forged billet aluminum body allows for considerable weight savings over the original cast iron caliper, without any rust and corrosion issues that usually happen to cast iron parts. After installing this caliper kit on your vehicle you get the added benefit of two piston pad clamping power. The complete kit includes D52 calipers, hardened slide pins and BP-10 high friction pads. Such combination of components make this kit a great replacement option for a number of restricted class competition categories and drum to disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street vehicles. Caliper finishes are available if you want to add a customized look to your stock or custom wheels.
