The Ford Mustang is an iconic nameplate that has lived through decades and retained its styling and performance prowess in our day and age. The sixth generation of this pony car is more sophisticated than ever before, and Ford continues adding new elements of cool to the lineup. From the legendary Bullitt to the hardcore GT500, there’s the right car for everyone in the diverse Mustang portfolio. This year, one more icon rejoins the family. Meet the Ford Mustang Mach 1 that slots between the GT and Shelby models. Every ‘Stang is a great vehicle in its factory condition, but as long as the nameplate has been in existence, generations of owners have been customizing their galloping pony badged cars. We have the 2021 Ford Mustang accessories and parts you need to improve the performance and look of your American classic.
It was in 1969 that the first Mustang Mach 1 performance package saw the world, set to celebrate the launch of the supersonic Concorde jet. It was available through 1978 and was then revived for the 2003 – 2004 model years. Now the historic name comes back again, given to the car the Blue Oval describes as “the most track-capable” 5.0-liter-equipped ‘Stang currently available. Its V8 makes 480 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, the same figures as the Bullitt. To the joy of purists, a 6-speed manual gearbox comes standard. This tranny is also found in the Shelby GT350 and comes with a rev matching feature that can be disabled. A 10-speed automatic is an alternative. Many of the engine parts and suspension components are shared with the Shelby GT350, while accessories like exhaust tips and a rear valance come directly from the GT500.
The optional Handling Package allows the owner to make the best use of the Mach 1's performance potential. Available on both automatic- and manual-equipped models, it adds a range of goodies that improve traction and are claimed to generate 150% more downforce than the dedicated Performance Pack Level 1 does for the Mustang GT. The Handling Package brings a unique set of wide 19-inch wheels with grabby Michelin competition tires wrapped around them. Their camber adjusts through the new strut tops, while a swing rear spoiler and front splitter help improve aerodynamics at high speeds. The mightiest Mustang Shelby GT500 also got its fair share of parts included in the new-for-2021 carbon fiber handling package. Aside from 20-inch carbon fiber wheels finished in black paint, the pack throws in adjustable strut top mounts and an oil catch can. Aero bits such as a Gurney flap and splitter wickers are also there. The three new flashy body paint colors available for the GT500 won't leave anyone cold.
Gone are the times when base Mustangs were the models to avoid buying. Now, even the entry-level 2.3-liter turbo I4 is no slouch with its respectable 310 ponies. There are plenty of factory upgrade options that improve power and handling, including the High Performance package, EcoBoost Handling package, and more. And if they are not enough to fuel your excitement, there is a whole lot of 2021 Ford Mustang parts and accessories on the aftermarket that will allow you to make your own modifications. The 2021 GT Mustangs are powered by a 460-hp V8, while the Shelby models employ a 5.2-liter V8 that pumps out 526 hp, or 760 hp with a supercharger and other upgrades.
Want to make your 2021 Ford Mustang one of a kind, keep it running at its peak, or turn it into a high-powered beast? Our vast selection of premium accessories and parts ticks all the boxes. Quality is at the heart of everything we do at CARiD, so whatever your project, our brand name products and qualified experts will ensure success. Class. Luxury. Durability. We have it all, and we're always here with everything you need to keep your 2021 Ford Mustang in tip top shape, inside and out.
