The first production SUV by Alfa Romeo, the Stelvio was introduced for the 2018 model year. It is named after a famous winding pass in the Alps, which is one of the best driving roads worldwide. Sharing the platform with the Giulia, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio employs many aluminum components, including the subframe, suspension parts, doors, fenders, etc. and rear crossmember partly made from composite plastics to decrease weight. The vehicle offers the Q4 all-wheel drive system as a standard feature. The adaptive suspension of the new Stelvio includes a front double wishbone setup and rear multilink setup. Thanks to exclusive technologies, the model delivers one of the most direct steering ratios in the segment, precise steering feel, excellent power delivery, and passenger comfort.
The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is available in three trim levels– base, Ti, and high-performance Quadrifoglio. The first two grades utilize a 2.0 L turbocharged I4 power plant producing 280 hp, while the Quadrifoglio comes with a robust 2.9 L bi-turbo V6 capable of 505 hp. This version shows impressive numbers – its maximum speed is 177 mph and 0-60 mph acceleration takes 3.9 seconds. Both power plants are all-aluminum and both are directed through an 8-speed automatic gearbox with optional aluminum steering column-mounted paddle shifters. To provide optimal handling in various conditions, the Stelvio features a 3-mode drive selector; the Stelvio Quadrifoglio comes with a 4-mode one, featuring the additional Race Mode.
The new Stelvio offers an easy-to-reach wide-screen entertainment system and 7.0” info display cluster. The list of standard features also includes push-button start, leather upholstery, flat-bottom steering wheel, power hatch, rear parking sensors, and backup camera. Seven wheels options are available for the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (from 18” up to 21”) as well as thirteen exterior color choices. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio by Alfa Romeo offers some special features like carbon fiber trim, high-performance suspension tuning, and others. This trim level also has the integrated braking system with carbon-ceramic brakes (optional) providing a prompt response for a significantly decreased braking distance. For the 2018 model year, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio got a special edition model to celebrate its lap time of 7:51.7 at the Nürburgring, beating the Porsche Cayenne Turbo by two seconds. Externally, the Nürburgring Edition features a special gray paint and carbon fiber treatments for the front fascia and mirror caps. Inside, there are racing seats by Sparco with carbon shell, upholstered in black Alcantara and featuring red stitching. The steering wheel is trimmed with carbon, leather, and Alcantara. On the technology front, there is an 8.8-inch infotainment screen and an audio system by Harman Kardon.
