Fitting all terrain or mud terrain tires with more aggressive tread to your 4x4 will give you better grip on dirt trails, but off-roaders typically go for taller tires at the same time. Along with their rugged appearance, bigger tires can increase ground clearance, and taller sidewalls help cushion impacts and provide the flexibility to conform to irregular surfaces for traction. However, significant tire upsizing can cause clearance problems. A lift kit can take care of some clearance issues, but you may need rims with a more negative offset as well. Precision design, the latest manufacturing techniques, and premium materials all combine to impart our off-road wheels with their superior strength and durability. We offer steel, cast aluminum, and forged aluminum wheels. Although they’re heavier than their alloy counterparts, steel wheels are tough and relatively inexpensive. Cast aluminum wheels are strong and lightweight, and affordable. They’re made by forcing molten aluminum at low pressure into a mold. Once the wheel cools, any necessary machining operations are performed. Forged wheels are the best when it comes to strength. A solid chunk of premium aluminum billet is heated and forced into shape using extreme pressure, and then finish machined to its final form. Forging compresses the metal so it is very dense, resulting in a wheel that is exceptionally strong, so it can handle off-road abuse, but also very light, decreasing unsprung weight and the strain on your suspension.

When driving on the street, the recommended inflation pressure keeps the tire firmly on the rim regardless of side loads like those that would be experience when cornering. Veteran off-roaders know that reducing tire pressure or, “airing down”, when they’re driving in the dirt can result in the best traction. However, if inflation pressure is too low, side forces that may be encountered while navigating uneven terrain can completely dislodge the tire bead from the rim, resulting in total loss of air pressure and a situation that could leave you stranded. For hard core off-roaders we offer beadlock rims. Beadlocks clamp the tire to the rim so that it can’t come off even at extremely low pressure. We also have simulated beadlock rims if you just want your off-roader to have the beadlock rims look.

We offer racing wheels for different types of off-road competition including wheels for dune buggies and rally cars. Beadlocks are an important feature of many of our off-road racing wheels, but some wheels have additional features to improve their durability. Racing wheels are routinely on and off the car during pit stops and when the car is repaired and prepped for an event. Steel lug nut inserts are used on some of our rally car rims to prevent galling and ruining the aluminum alloy from repeated removal and installation.
