The Volvo 740 Series entered the market in 1984. Representing a range of mid-size luxury cars, the 740 was more affordable than its sibling, the 760. The highest power in the entire lineup was delivered by a 2.0L turbocharged I4 engine, providing up to 124 mph of maximum speed. After minor modifications in 1990, the 740 remained basically unchanged until 1992, when it was dropped in favor of the Volvo 940.
