It was a 2-door, 2-seat subcompact car substantially identical to the Suzuki Sidekick, with which the X-90 shared the chassis and most of the mechanicals. Even though the body shape was largely the same, the X-90 was more curvaceous, featuring moreover a T-section removable roof and a small trunk. Available in either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, the X-90 was powered by a four-cylinder 16-valve engine providing good performance. Despite the uniqueness of its design, the Suzuki X-90 had a very short life, being dropped in 1998.
