The first Renault Trafic rolled off the assembly line in Europe back in 1980. However, it reached the United States at the turn of the millennium, when the second generation was launched and when the Trafic was already a successful model. It was a light commercial vehicle which was popular with many categories of buyers, thanks to its availability in different configurations including panel van, chassis cab, and minibus. The Renault Trafic was designed for long mileage, and the vehicle gained a strong reputation for reliability and good overall comfort. Under this perspective, the cruise control plays a consistent role in reducing the stress and fatigue the driver experiences during long trips.
The first more or less functional cruise control system was invented in the middle of the twentieth century. It started gaining in popularity in the United States in the 1970s when the oil crisis resulted in strict monitoring of fuel consumption. The system was designed to maintain a constant speed without the need of using the accelerator pedal: just pressing a button will make the vehicle proceed at a set speed, allowing the driver to focus on other tasks. We sell a large selection of Renault Trafic cruise control components including modules, switches, sensors, and cables.
