Reid Racing is a well-known automotive manufacturer of race-winning transmission parts as well as first-rate off-road parts. The company pushes the envelop to offer the highest-grade products designed to meet today’s and future needs of its customers. The history of the company started with the foundation of Dedenbear Products in 1979. One of its founders, Dennis Reid, was an engineer who sold his NHRA Super Stock Corvette to start up Dedenbear Products, the company, specializing in manufacturing low-cost electronics and mechanical parts for drag racers.
In the 1980’s Dennis Reid developed and patented the first “Delay Box”, which became an indispensable part on almost all bracket race cars. Later, many other patented inventions followed, namely automated shifters, throttle stops, throttle stop controllers, and more innovative delay boxes. In the 1990’s, Dennis Reid redesigned the case Powerglide to provide greater strength and ensure better performance. The new case was named the Superglide and its production started in 2 years. The Superglide got success and in classes where it was allowed, nearly every world championship has been won by a racer who used the case.
By the mid 2000’s, Dedenbear Products began to manufacture off-road drivetrain components. However, its product lines became so diverse that required totally different skills to produce them in a proper manner. That was too hard to handle for a single company and that’s why Reid Racing, Inc. was formed and spun off from Dedenbear Products, Inc. Dedenbear continued to manufacture its traditional line of Drag Racing Products (chiefly electronic products), while Reid Racing, Inc. started to offer transmission and off-road parts. In 2007, Auto Meter Competition Instruments bought Dedenbear Products, Inc. and moved to Illinois. Still owned by Dennis and Debra Reid and comprised of the same devoted team of engineers and state-of-the-art facilities, Reid Racing, Inc. offers first-rate products you can rely on.
