The Ram 2500 is a full-size pickup truck produced by Chrysler Group LLC since 1981, when the first-generation Ram 2500 made its debut as the facelifted version of the Ram D Series pickup truck, presented in 1972. The 'D' or Ram designation indicated two-wheel drive, while the Power Ram or 'W' identified four-wheel drive. The Ram truck was called after the Ram hood ornament that was used to grace Ram vehicles in the 1930s. Based on the Chrysler AD platform, the Ram 2500 was available as a 2-door standard or extended cab, as well as a 4-door crew cab. The club cab configuration came later and was offered with fold-out jump seats. The engines range included a 3.9L V6 as well as 5.2L and 5.9L V8 with a 3- or 4-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission.

Some Ram 2500 parts saw a redesign for the 1994 model year. The second generation's styling and accessories were changed according to the concepts of the chief designer Philip E. Payne. The unique design offered the look of a big rig truck, including a rig-looking front end and large grille. The interior design was focused on storage Ram 2500 accessories, including a large glove-box, additional storage room behind the seat, and extra armrest storage area. The dashboard and instrument cluster were also redesigned. In 1998, they introduced the quad cab with smaller back suicide doors. The following models were produced: the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 in both two- and four-wheel drive. The engine options included the previous generation engines along with the new 8.0L V10 engine, offered as an alternative to the powerful 5.9L I6 diesel engine. The Ram 2500 had a variety of axles. The unique ones were the front solid axles of 2500 and 3500 Rams as they lacked locking hubs, though included the center axle disconnect. Yet later, the Ram used permanently locked in front axles.

The updated version of the third generation Ram 2500 was presented in 2002. The major update consisted of a redesigned frame, updated powertrain Ram parts, suspension, and interior. The crew cab models were extended cab trucks with conventional-opening rear doors. Unlike the 2500 and 3500 Rams, the 1500 light trucks featured independent front suspension instead of live axles. The year 2006 was marked by the fact that there was introduced the first mega cab, featuring the advanced multi-displacement system Hemi V8 engine, which increased fuel economy. The fourth generation was on sale as the Ram 2500 1500 since 2008. Ram offered a new 4-door cab style, new Rambox, Hemi engine option, new suspension, as well as the innovative storage system. The engine choice included a 5.7L Hemi V8 engine with a 390 hp output, a 4.7L V8 engine that developed 310 hp, and a 3.7L V6 engine capable of 215 hp. The V8 engines were paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 had a 4-speed automatic. The safety features were ABS, anti-skid system, traction control, and side curtain airbags, all included into the list of standard Ram 2500 parts. The Ram 2500 1500 was awarded as Truck of Texas, Luxury Truck of the Year and a Consumer Digest Best Buy. The Ram 2500 was also named Truck of the Year by Motor Trend magazine in 1994, 2003, and 2010.

The Ram 2500 is a superpower, widely recognized as a ruler in the full-size kingdom. The history and success of the Ram cannot be called into question, as it is one of the most influential and prestigious trucks to have ever rolled off the line. The Ram 2500 is always updated to include improvements that make sense, whereas so many other trucks see additions that bog them down and ultimately compromise their ability. The Ram still performs like a beast and can load or plow better than ever before. Always an all-star, the Ram 2500 continues to carry on its impressive success story that many drivers appreciate.

I own a 2021 3/4ton Ram with a 6.4ft bed and it has the Cummins diesel. If you are looking for a more economical step rail that gets the job done....these are them. Bolt pattern lined up perfectly. It will take about an hour to install both sides. Now the cons...there is a lot of flex in the bracket. I weigh 300lbs and my son weighs 160lbs. It flexed bad even when he stood on it. If you are handy and feel like messing with it, here are 2 options. Either make the flange part of bracket that fastens to the rocker panel bigger or design a strut that uses the pinch weld. I chose pinch weld and there is zero movement now. Because I primed and painted my struts, I spent the day installing these...but I saved $200 not going with the name brand version of these. Overall...I'm glad I purchased and like showing them off!!!
