Why is a one-piece wheel so desirable? Think about it - multi-piece wheels are held together by a ring of bolts near the edge of the rim. Of course, there's the risk of leaks through the o-ring or silicone sealant that can make it impossible to keep the tire properly inflated. In addition, a steel bolt holding three pieces of aircraft-grade aluminum is at immediate risk of corrosion, which can degrade not only the bolt but also the aluminum near it. The bolts can potentially become loose, and require periodic retorquing. A one-piece wheel has none of these issues.
