Released originally as a top trim package of the Plymouth Belvedere, the Plymouth Satellite was also a mid-size model built on the B platform basis. The Satellite has lived through three generations. At first (1964-67), it was a 2-door hardtop or a two-door convertible powered with a range of eight V8 engines coupled with three transmission options. The 2nd generation (1967-1970) brought 4-door sedan and station wagon body styles. The range of engines was decreased to four, however, the transmission choice remained the same, featuring 3-/4-speed manual and 3-speed automatic gearboxes. During its third generation (1970-1974), the range of engines grew to eight again, but one of them was a famous Chrysler’s inline six-cylinder engine with 3.7L displacement.
