The Nissan Altima first appeared on the scene in 1993. Based on the Bluebird, the model started off as an efficient compact referred to as the Stanza Altima. The first generation was powered by a KA24DE I4 DOHC engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Handling was seen as a clear advantage for the Altima, as the suspension consisted of struts featuring stabilizer bars at both ends. The Altima came in four trim levels: XE, GXE, SE, and GLE, which was the most luxurious offering. The GXE was seen as the mid-level trim and showcased power windows, color matching speakers, and a digital dashboard clock. The SE showed off Nissan Altima parts such as fog lights, a rear spoiler, side skirts, and 4-wheel disc brakes, while the upscale GLE package took it a step further. The Altima GLE offered adjustable lumbar support, automatic climate control, a sunroof, keyless entry, color matching mirrors, and a CD stereo. Right from the start, the first series of the Nissan Altima was a success and the varying trim levels play a crucial role in attracting a wide demographic of drivers to the up-and-coming model.

Like the first generation, the second generation Nissan Altima was styled by the company’s California design center. Changes initially included an improved, roomier interior with a folding back seat as well as de-powered airbags. Trim levels remained the same with the most noticeable differences involving the SE and the GLE. The SE features white-faced gauges, a grille that matched the exterior paint, alloy wheels, and a spoiler. The GLE kept a lot of the same refinements as the first generation, except leather seats were now added as standard. The year 2000 saw a further slew of changes for the Altima. Horsepower was upped to 155 from 150, the stabilizer bars were reinforced, and the ratio was cut down on both transmissions.

When the third generation Altima debuted in 2002, it was the first version of the car that was directed solely for North America. It was now bigger than ever at 188.8 cubic feet and also sported a 20 gallon fuel tank. 4-wheel disc brakes also became standard. 2005 bought on another facelift that featured such Altima parts as a redesigned grille, interior, red tail lights, and an optional navigation system. The current fourth generation Nissan Altima uses a lot of parts from the third series but sees a more technologically advanced package. Push-button start, Bluetooth, parking camera, and other modern amenities have been introduced. Engine options include a 2.5L straight 4-cylinder and a 3.5L V6 (270 HP). In 2007, Nissan introduced the Altima Coupe and the Altima Hybrid as 2008 models. The Altima Coupe has already seen upgrades to the following Altima parts: hood, grille, and front-end, including projector headlights. The Altima Hybrid holds the distinction of being Nissan’s first hybrid. It was first only offered in states that abide by California’s emission laws but Nissan has begun to spread the model further. The hybrid is currently also used as a police cruiser in several precincts of the New York Police Department.

Nissan has always tried to include a bit more style and technology in their family-oriented models, and the Altima is no different. Whether it's the coupe, sedan, or even the hybrid, the Altima is a vision. Each generation is home to a streamlined exterior body style that suggests there's more there than meets the eye. The Altima has always had a nice jolt when it comes to its performance, which is what has kept it a favorite ride for the youth movement as much for the day-care crowd. It's tech savvy, it's efficient, and always in fashion - the Altima story lives on. Even more noticeable the Altima becomes if outfitted with the right accessories.

Unfortunately the low & high beam bulbs are NOT LED bulbs, however they still improve the quality of vision on road. The LED DRL accent looks great, and provides and futuristic TRON look. Very content with the purchase.
