The second in line in Infiniti's FX series, the FX45 is a sporty, luxurious crossover SUV that premiered on the streets in 2003. Both the FX35 and FX45 utilize Nissan's FM platform along with the G35, Nissan Skyline, Nissan 350Z, and the Nissan 370Z. And as the FX35 was outfitted with a 3.5L V6, the FX45 utilized a 4.5L V8. Another distinctive feature of the Infiniti FX45 was the implementation of a sport-tuned suspension, which aided the model's reputation for class-leading handling. Being that the model was only offered in one trim level, the Infiniti FX45 was loaded with an array of standard Infiniti parts inside and out of the vehicle, including 20" wheels, all-wheel drive, traction control, stability control and antilock disc brakes. Changes to the Infiniti FX45 parts came in 2005, when adaptive cruise control, remote entry/start, and a new lane-departure warning system were introduced as options. 2006 welcomed in a boost to the engine configuration which gave the 4.5L V8 320 horsepower and 335 pounds-per-foot of torque. The interior the FX45 was also updated with such accessories as an upgraded dash and a different console design. Infiniti would go on to offer the Premium package that year, as well. The Premium Package showcased a sunroof, automatic headlights, a rearview camera, Bluetooth capability, and a Bose stereo system.

2007 saw the arrival of new Infiniti FX45 parts, including power-folding side mirrors as well as a seatbelt reminder. Safety features for the FX45 were improved even more. Antilock disc brakes, brake assist, front-seat side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, traction control, stability control, a rearview monitor, and a tire-pressure monitoring system were all included. For 2008, no major updates were made to the model aside from satellite radio being added as standard. After the 2008 model year, Nissan decided to discontinue the FX45 in the lineup. Although it is no longer in production, the Infiniti FX45 received recognition from around the industry, such as being named to Edmunds.com's Most Wanted Midsize SUV for 2004 (Honorable Mention).
