The American vehicle manufacturer Ford launched its full-size car, the Fairlane, in 1955. The model replaced the Crestline in the company's range. It came with a 3.7 L straight-6 motor or a 4.5 L V8 unit under the hood being offered as a 2-door coupe, convertible, sedan, and wagon and 4-door sedan and station wagon. Starting in 1962 and up to the discontinuation in 1970, the Ford Fairlane was a mid-size car. The range of body styles remained the same, except for a convertible that was replaced by a hardtop for the fourth generation. The model's production run lasted for about 15 years and seven generations were developed during this time.
