Ford made available a five-speed automatic transmission as an optional part for the Ford Escursion. A year later, Ford got rid of the 7.3L turbodiesel to make room instead for a 6.0L turbodiesel V8 that showcased 325 horsepower, which was an increase of over 100 hp compared to the original 7.3 configuration. The new engine offered cleaner emissions and an increase in torque, as well. Of course, if there is one thing the Ford Excursion is perhaps most widely recognized for, it is its size. The Ford Excursion has elicited a tow rating of 11,000 pounds and can fit up to nine passengers. It was in this area that the Ford Excursion stood above its competition most notably.
