The nameplate Custom was first introduced by Ford in 1949. That was actually the first generation of cars that included the Custom and the Custom Deluxe models. The series was discontinued in 1955 and replaced by a renewed version. The nameplate made an astonishing comeback in 1957 featuring the Custom 300 modification. Though being rather popular with consumers, it was dropped in 1960. The last and the final generation of cars appeared with some drastic exterior changes featuring the Custom 500 series manufactured for the Canadian auto market only. The production of the model was finally discontinued in 1981. The legendary car appeared in various popular retro films by Hitchcock and other recognizable directors.
