After only six months since its debut, the F8 Tributo has got its drop-top version in the guise of the Ferrari F8 Spider originally built as a replacement for the 488 Spider. Despite having much in common with its fixed-roof sibling, the newcomer still has some specially designed parts that make it look slightly different. Besides, the newbie received a handful of distinctive Ferrari F8 Spider accessories for both its interior and exterior. Hands down, the retractable hardtop (RHT) is the most obvious difference between these Ferrari models. Surely, some Ferrari F8 Spider parts of the exterior were updated to accommodate it. As part of that redesign, the car got a new rear deck. On the downside, the panel now hides the engine with all of its accessories and nearby mechanisms, so you can no longer view them through the window.

The RHT requires 14 seconds to fully deploy/retract and can be operated while on the move at low speeds that don’t exceed 28 mph. Most of its body parts are identical to those of the F8 Tributo. Being a convertible, the model is 154 pounds heavier than the coupe which makes it slower in acceleration. However, it is 44 pounds lighter than its predecessor, the Ferrari 488 Spider. That came courtesy of some mechanical improvements including the lightened flywheel, crankshaft, and connecting rods. Exhaust manifolds have also been lightened by 21 pounds. To reach the goal, they were made of an extremely heat-resistant yet lightweight nickel alloy. The exhaust routing was also improved, so the newcomer not only weighs less but also sounds better than the model it replaces.

Ferrari’s latest mid-engine convertible shares the powertrain and many mechanical features with the regular F8 model. Under the hood, it hides a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 capable of pushing out mighty 710 horsepower. It is rear-wheel drive and has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as the only option to date. With its 0-124 mph acceleration time of 8.2 seconds, the drop-top model is slower than the coupe version. However, it has the same 211 mph top speed. It also received a bunch of the automaker’s latest performance tech developed to maximize driving performance. They include the side slip control that allows for controlled drifting and electronic limited-slip differential that improves handling. On the inside, the interior is full of quality materials and multiple stylish accessories that bring just the right amount of luxury.

Shotty craftsmanship. Air bubbles, dents, cracks, splits, etc. EVERYWHERE! What should have been a 3 to 4 day project turned into a week and a half project trying to even out dips, uneven surfaces, holes, blemishes, etc... simply because a wore out, warped molding at the factory should have been long sine been disposed of long ago! Those molds go through extreme heat and can only go through so many moldings before they're heat warped. I spent almost $400 - spoiler, tax, s&h. I missed an annual car show I really was looking forward to because this spoiler wasn't able to be finished in time. This spoiler shouldn't have made it through quality control!!!!!! The installation hardware wasn't included, not to mention there were two screws missing in the top bar of the spoiler.
