Exhaust Resonators

Exhaust Resonators

Unlike the muffler that makes engine sound way less loud by minimizing the sound pressure, the resonator cancels out certain sound waves that are unpleasant to hear, such as droning and buzzing. Stock mufflers usually have a somewhat restrictive design which increases back pressure, while car exhaust resonators have a special construction that resembles a straight pipe. This lessens back pressure, releasing more horsepower. Thanks to a car resonator, the sound gains an aggressive loud note. There is also a hybrid type that combines the features of the two, originally credited mostly to luxury cars but now considered to be the standard in the automotive industry.

Because an exhaust resonator is usually installed between a catalytic converter and a muffler, it is sometimes referred to as a pre-muffler. Whether you are looking for a quality replacement for your stock exhaust resonator or are going to customize the exhaust system and need a 3-inch resonator to add a deep, throaty note, our selection ticks all the boxes. We carry the right exhaust pipe resonators to create an exhaust tone you expect, all coming from manufacturers with extensive know-how in exhaust technology, including Borla, Walker, Dynomax, etc.
