The production run of the Dodge Charger started back in 1966. The model was based on the Coronet – it used the same B-body platform and shared the front-end sheet metal with the latter. The Charger was offered in a sole 2-door fastback body style. The model provided high performance, as it used a 5.2 L V8 in the base version. A range of more powerful engines was available as well. Inside, the car featured 4 individual bucket seats and a number of exclusive features, such as vinyl upholstery, door panels, courtesy lights, radio, and others. However, this model was marketed only for two model years – the second-generation Charger was unveiled in 1968.
