The flow of liquid in your Chevy Aveo’s engine cooling system is regulated by a thermostat. It’s a fairly simple component consisting of a chamber filled with a wax pellet, spring, valve, and that’s pretty much it. The thermostat is located in a special housing, and it was designed to be easy to remove (you need to drain some quantity of coolant for that). In the majority of designs, a thermostat housing uses a gasket made of soft compounds, which tends to lose its elasticity because of overheating and aging.
