The Audi S5 is a sports coupe that was introduced for the 2008 model year. The S5 keeps in line with Audi's way of providing a sporty edge to their roster of luxury automobiles. When it debuted, the Audi S5 was outfitted with a 4.2L direct-injected V8 engine which provided up to 354 horsepower along with 325 pounds-per-foot of torque, directed through either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic (with manual shift control). Only one trim level was offered for the model's first year but the S5 was still excellently equipped. 19" alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, eight-way power front-sport-seats, heated seats, leather upholstery, and an ten-speaker stereo system with CD/ satellite radio were all included as standard Audi S5 accessories.

For 2009, Audi implemented numerous changes, adding more cutting-edge Audi S5 parts to the standard list while also providing an increase in optional features. A cabriolet version of the Audi S5 was ushered into the lineup for the 2010 model year. While the original coupe body-style still sported the 4.2L V8, the convertible S5 was given a new supercharged 3.0L V6 configuration that churned out 333 horsepower and 325 pounds-per-foot of torque. Once again, the 4.2L V8 was mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with manual shift control. However, the cabriolet's engine was directed through a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission. Aside from the cabriolet joining the lineup, the most notable change to the S5 was the model becoming available in two trim levels, Premium Plus and Prestige. The S5 Premium Plus showcased such parts as xenon HID headlights, foglights, leather upholstery, power-heated seats, and satellite radio. Prestige models took it up a notch with remote ignition, automatic-dimming mirrors, a DVD player, and a hard-drive-based navigation system with real-time traffic.
