The Audi 90 is actually an upmarket version of the Audi 80. The Audi 90 sedans appeared on the market in September 1987. By the level of equipment and finishing the vehicle was only slightly superior to the Audi 80, but it was equipped with more powerful powertrain: either a four-cylinder engine or five-cylinder one that has become a major in the export to the USA market since February 1987. These vehicles featured a 20-valve 2.0L or 2.3L fuel-efficient engine making 160 HP. All the models that had been produced since February 1987 were brought into conformity with European and US emission regulations. In 1991, the Audi 90 was taken out of production.
