What’s New for the 2024 Impreza?

This year’s redesign brings a variety of meaningful changes. The sedan body style has been discontinued, so the Impreza continues exclusively in a hatchback form. Subaru’s popular compact now builds around a 10% more rigid chassis. Speaking of the exterior, the Impreza gets sporty touches to the overall familiar design. The reshaped grille looks more aggressive, and the rear fenders are more pronounced. The rear end is graced by a fancier tail light design.

The trim range now includes base, Sport, and RS models. Revived this year, the Impreza RS nods to the nameplate’s rally-racing past. Setting it apart from the rest of the Impreza line are blacked-out exterior accessories, 18-inch alloy wheels, unique badging, black-and-red seat upholstery, and fake carbon fiber interior trim. But most importantly, the RS gets a new 2.5-liter boxer engine shared with the Crosstrek, which is rated for 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. Other models are powered by a carryover 2.0-liter flat-4 making 152 hp and 145 lb-ft. A five-speed manual transmission is gone, meaning the model lineup now uses a CVT. The AWD system now offers improved stability thanks to active torque vectoring.

Subaru has put some effort into making the Impreza's cabin more comfortable and convenient. The interior is noticeably quieter, and the seats have been reworked to offer more support. Tech-wise, there’s a new 11.6-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen and revised driver assistance features.
