Ford’s range-topping SUV gets a nice update for 2022 and expands its lineup with new offerings – the rugged Timberline model and the Stealth Edition Performance package that brings a sportier look and feel. The exterior tweaks made to the SUV include a redesigned grille and headlights, while the interior sports a new dash design and adds more tech. The top-tier Platinum trim sees the addition of the Blue Cruise hands-free highway driving assistant to its standard feature content. The infotainment system gains a large 12-inch touchscreen as standard, while a giant 15.5-inch vertically oriented unit is an option. On higher trim levels, analog gauges are replaced by a 12.4-inch display.

Every Expedition continues with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 available in different flavors and paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The models at the bottom end of the lineup (XL, STX, and XLT) get a 380-hp version of that engine, while on the Limited, King Ranch, and Premium, the V6 is tuned to push out 400 hp and 480 lb-ft. The Timberline and Stealth Edition Performance models boast the most power of the bunch, making 440 ponies and 510 lb-ft. The new performance pack is only available for the Limited and extended-wheelbase Limited Max trims and brings a sportier suspension tuning, along with the mightiest engine. It also adds blacked-out accessories and trim and rolls on 22-inch wheels, also finished in black. The off-road-ready Timberline SUV offers 0.8 inches more ground clearance while providing improved traction and performance in difficult road conditions thanks to 33-inch all-terrain rubber, a wider track, and a 2-speed transfer case.
