Many of its off-road goodies are identical to those of the F-150 Raptor, including a high-performance suspension tuned for both high-speed desert racing and rock crawling, and massive 37-inch tires offered as standard, the largest of any stock SUV. The suspension travel is increased by 60% in the front and 40% at the rear compared to the base model, resulting in 13 and 14 inches, respectively. The Raptor gains 8.6 inches in track and 9.8 inches in overall width versus the standard Bronco, with a set of big fender flares covering the beefy rubber. Locking front and rear diffs and a front sway bar disconnect are part of the package. The new off-roader is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that generates at least 400 hp and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

For its second model year, the Bronco offers a few new color options, with the Mallard Green paint harkening back to the classic SUV of the 1970s. The 2022 Bronco is available in two- and four-door body styles. While the two-door comes solely with a hard top, the four-door offers a choice between a hard top and a soft top. The roof, doors, and even the fenders can be removed for open-air adventures in the wilderness. To protect the interior from dust and dirt, the SUV is available with easy-to-clean rubberized floors and the seats upholstered in marine-grade vinyl.

Even in its base form, the 2022 Bronco is a capable off-roader. A 4WD system with a 2-speed electronic transfer case is standard, and tech equipment includes G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes that can be selected depending on what’s there under the SUV’s wheels. The famed Sasquatch package can be added to any trim level. The Wildtrak is outfitted for desert driving, while the Badlands is the most hardcore Bronco with beefy equipment like 17-inch beadlock wheels with oversize all-terrain tires, upgraded bumpers, and a trim-specific suspension. The Wildtrak can additionally be upgraded with the HOSS 3.0 off-road package which brings 2.5” Fox shocks – by comparison, the Bronco Raptor features 3.1” units. Other meaningful pieces of equipment offered as part of the pack include beefier steering parts and a rear stabilizer bar. 2022 Broncos come with a choice of two turbo engines, namely a 2.3-liter 300-hp I4 and a 2.7-liter 330-hp V6.

New for this year, the Ford Bronco Everglades is another capable model for off-roading enthusiasts to get their hands on. It is based on the 4-door hardtop Sasquatch, and its equipment is focused on trail-busting ability, giving you the edge off the beaten path where there'll be varying terrain, hills, occasional creeks, etc. The Everglades is fitted with a snorkel and a winch attached to a beefy modular bumper straight from the factory, and 35-inch mud tires give it the necessary traction in challenging conditions. The newcomer can drive through 36.4 inches of water, which is almost 3 inches more than the Sasquatch can manage. Some of the components underneath such as the transfer case and axles have been moved up a bit to allow that; during rock crawling, skid plates and rock sliders help protect the lower parts of the body. In addition to the Desert Sand body paint, also exclusive to the Everglades are the wheel designs and flatter fender flares. Inside, there are easy-to-clean floor mats and vinyl seats, and the infotainment system comes with a 12” touchscreen. The sole engine option for this model is the 2.3-liter four.
